One of Peach Tree's great strengths is the diversity of our families. Our students hail from the USA and other countries and have distinct cultural traditions and perspectives.

We are accustomed to working with children and families whose native tongue is not English.

As a small daycare and preschool, we believe in supporting the nuclear and extended family to the best of our ability. Many grandparents and friends are part of our students’ care network, and we consider our families to be our partners in the child’s education.

Parent Workshops

At the start of each school year, we offer parent workshops for our new families so that they may better understand our educational approach. These workshops enable parents to better understand our teaching philosophy and offer a forum for discussion.

At present, two educational series are offered: The Normalized Child I & II and The Reggio Emilia Child. The Normalized Child series highlight Montessori theory and the basic developmental stages of the young child. This class provides an overview to how Peach Tree’s approach to education enables our students to “become normalized,” e.g. develop a sense of inner discipline, self-assurance and love of learning. Participants also learn how to bring Montessori techniques into the home, including the set up of play areas and family spaces.

The Reggio Emilia Child is an interactive workshop for parents and loved by all who attend. Founded by Loris Malaguzzi in northern Italy, the Reggio Emilia approach is a collaboration of educational theories geared to create an environment for children where creativity is seen as a characteristic way of thinking. Participants have the opportunity to put what they learn into practice and create a Reggio Emilia inspired work of art.

These classes take place at Peach Tree Montessori and are provided to our families at no cost.

Grandfriends’ Day

In honor of Grandparents’ Day each September, Peach Tree holds a very special Grandfriends Day for the grandparents, “grandfriends” and other family members of our students. Our "Grandfriends Day" celebration honors our students' grandparents and grandfriends with cupcakes and tea. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to "host" their grandfriends, assist with serving, and socialize with our families.

Family Social Events

Throughout the year we try to provide social outings for our families outside of regular school hours. In addition to holiday and cultural celebrations at school, we have family potluck dinners at the school. Offsite activities have included annual trips to the Calder Dairy Farm and local indoor play areas such as Chelsea Treehouse.
